Jr. Cougars Atom 2008 Tier 1 Blue: Celebrate Rogers Hometown Hockey and Weekend Win!

The Jr. Cougars had a great weekend on and off the ice. Friday night kicked off with lots of our Jr. Cougars attending the opening night of Rogers Hometown Hockey. It featured an exciting Jr. A game between Burlington Cougars and Brampton Admirals. It was a fun night supporting our local team as well as raising funds for breast cancer.

On Saturday the Jr. Cougars came to play but ran into a hot goalie and fell just short in a 3-1 loss to the Hamilton Huskies. Daniel Kim returned to the blue line and played one of his strongest games of the season to date earning the player of the game award. Congrats!

In a back and forth affair, the Jr. Cougars grounded the Mississauga Jets 5-4. In our typical comeback fashion, with less than 2 minutes remaining in the third period, Jacob Black scored the winner on his trademark toe drag to forehand then backhand deke (beauty!). After the game Black shared it was his first ever hat trick! Halloween came early for Zunti as he provided no treats but many trick saves against the Jets to help us earn the victory. Both Brody Sixsmith and Lincoln Stack also tallied for the Jr. Cougars in the win.

Following the victory many of our Jr. Cougars headed downtown Burlington for the Rogers Hometown Hockey Parade to partake in the night festivities.

After an amazing weekend of hockey and events the Jr. Cougars are looking forward to the Annual Fall Classic Tournament in Ottawa this coming weekend!

Safe travels and see everyone in Ottawa!
