2005 T2 Win Gene Harrington's Winter Ice Tournament!!!!
Agost Lourenco's Cougars headed to Buffalo to play in Gene Harrington Winter Ice tournament this weekend. After not playing a game in almost a month the team came out a bit flat on Friday losing 6-4 to Warwick Wildcats. Agost and his coaches pep talk after the game clearly worked as the next day the team came out flying, beating the Hatfield Ice Dogs 8-1, and then winning there second game of the day 2-1 against Cazenovia Chiefs. The win didn't come without some bad news as one of the defenders broke his wrist in the game.
With a record of 2-1, it set them up for a rematch in the championship game on Sunday vs Warwick. To add more excitement to that game, it was played at the outdoor rink.
The cool temperatures ( - 17 with wind) didn't stop our boys from coming out flying and scoring the first goal a mere 54 seconds into the game. 2 min 50 seconds into the second they popped in the second goal for a 2-0 lead. They were not done there and 7 minutes later scored again to take a commanding 3-0 lad heading into the 3rd period.
Warwick didn't go away easily and finally got one past our goalie with just over 2 minutes to play. Pulling there goalie a lot of pressure was put on and with 90 seconds left, slipped another into the net. Agost quickly called time out to settled the boys down and put a plan together to kill the remaining 90 seconds. The boys responded well not allowing another shot and securing the win.
Congratulations to the team for a well played tournament and another win. Great job by our Head Coach Agost and his entire staff.
